Coming Back Stronger: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity by: Drew Brees By Drew Brees with Christ Fabry is a memoir of Drew Brees. Drew chronicles his years leading up to the pinnacle of his football career; becoming Super Bowl Champion. You will experience the ups and downs of Drew's life, the many adversities that he has faced and conquered, the many failures and successes that he has experienced from high school all the way to the NFL. This is not simply a book about conquering with human will and endeavour but the faith in God and trusting in his will and purpose that holds us together and brings us through adversity making us stronger.
This book puts you in the shoes of a professional football player (a childhood dream of mine), not simply the glamour and fame of being a football star, but everything that it encompasses from overcoming a devastating injury to constant discouragement to keeping a family. The underlining theme of the book is written on it's cover "coming back stronger". Not only does the title apply to Drew himself, but it also applies to his team and place that he chose to call home; New Orleans. Reading this book helps you understand the devastation and the few hopes that they had to hold onto in the midst of a terrible tragedy. How even the simplest thing of winning football games and believing that there are brighter days ahead can pull a community together and in the midst of tragedy become stronger.
Not only was this story engaging right from the start to end, this book was well written and easy to read. I highly recommend this book to anyone, football fan or not; you will finish this book encouraged and determined. You might even finish this book feeling stronger.
