When revival comes it will not just come to the intercessors, pastors, evangelists, worship leaders, elders or any other position that you consider yourself as; Revival will come to the unredeemed. We can't earn it, we don't deserve it. If I held prayer meetings every night for 75 years of my life and revival finally came, I don't have any more right to it than that lazy Christian that believes in Jesus but doesn't pray, read their bible, tithe or even go to church regularly. If anything, that revival is more for that lazy Christian than it would be for me...for to be revived you must first be dead. My benefit would be to simply enter into his increased manifest presence, rejoice that salvation has come to the unsaved, and to celebrate that with the father that his son is being glorified in an increased measure on the earth.
Sometimes I think we have this idea that Revival is simply a means to making Christianity more enjoyable. Revival has one purpose, and that purpose is to glorify the Son. Revival comes as the father's strategy at different times through the ages to culminate one end...Jesus returning to the earth to His Bride that is made ready.
Does this mean that we can't benefit from revival and partake in it? Of course not, we enjoy revival because when it comes we are having a taste of our destiny which is the kingdom coming to earth. I love the way Duncan Campbell so simply described what revival is like, "God was everywhere" It was about God, and about God's desire...not ours. Luckily for us His desire is to dwell with man. He's obsessed with dwelling with man. He did it in the garden, he did it on the mercy seat, he even sent his only Son, he gave us the Holy Spirit. He always finds ways where he can walk among us. How many times has he said, "They will be my people, and I will be their God". Song of Songs, "I am yours and you are mine". It's a romantic story with a happy ending, and how does it end?... HE WALKS AMONG US!
Do I want revival? Do I still ask for it? Of course. Because it is on the father's heart, and my desire is to know what is on His heart. If this is what He is doing...I'm on board if I get anything out of it or not. It's all about His Son, it's all about His glory. Father send revival, glorify Your Son, make the wrong things right according to Your will.
